TDS Recovery

Your TDS is stuck. We get it back.

Every rupee of TDS deducted from your payments is tax you have already paid. When it doesn't reach your 26AS, it's lost unless someone chases it. We do the chasing: with every customer, every correction, until the credit is back against your PAN and usable against your tax.

Illustrative · one company

Two sides of TDS. Money leaks on both.

Most companies both receive payments with TDS deducted and make payments where they deduct it. We work on both sides.

When your customers deduct TDS

Credit that should be yours, stuck in someone else's return.

Your customers deduct TDS before paying you. If they file late, quote the wrong PAN or report the wrong amount, the credit never appears against your PAN, and you can't use it against your tax.

Where it goes wrong

  • Customer didn't file, or filed lateThe deduction happened, but nothing reached your 26AS.
  • Wrong PAN or wrong nameCredit went to another taxpayer, or to no one.
  • Wrong amount or wrong yearReported lower than deducted, or in a different financial year from your income.
  • Nobody chased itHundreds of customers, small amounts each, and no one whose job it is.

When you deduct TDS from vendors

Defaults, excess deduction and notices that quietly cost you.

Deducting at the wrong rate, a challan mismatch or a late return can lead to demands, interest and late fees. Deducting too much frustrates vendors and ties up their cash.

  • Challan mismatchesPayments not linked correctly to your quarterly returns.

Illustrative data. Customer names are fictitious. In reality this takes weeks of follow-up, not seconds. That follow-up is the service. We track every case until the credit is back.

Finding the gap is the easy part. Getting the money back is the job.

Every gap has a cause, and every cause needs someone outside your company to act. We know who, we know what to ask for, and we follow up until it is done.

Return not filed

The customer deducted TDS but hasn't filed the quarterly return.

We share the details and follow up until the return is filed.

Customer

Wrong PAN

Your credit was reported against someone else's PAN, or an invalid one.

The customer files a correction statement with your correct PAN.

Customer

Short reporting

Less TDS was reported than was actually deducted.

We document the difference and the customer corrects the amount.

Customer

Wrong year

TDS was reported in a different year from the income you booked.

We align the credit with the right year in your return, with supporting working.

TraCarta

Your own booking error

Receipts recorded net of TDS, or the TDS booked twice.

We correct the ledger so books and 26AS agree.

TraCarta

Challan not linked

As a deductor, your payment isn't linked to your return.

We correct the challan details and file a revised return.

TraCarta

TDS runs on a quarterly clock. So do we.

Returns are due every quarter, and so are the mismatches. Our quarterly engagement follows the same rhythm, so we chase each gap while the customer still remembers the invoice, and recover it before it becomes a write-off.

Questions finance teams ask

About TDS recovery, in plain terms.

Why does it matter if TDS isn't in our 26AS?

You can generally only take credit for TDS that appears against your PAN in Form 26AS or the Annual Information Statement. If it's missing, you either pay that tax again or wait for a refund that never comes.

Can we fix it ourselves?

Some of it, yes. But most gaps need the customer who deducted the tax to file or correct their return. Chasing hundreds of customers for small amounts is where most internal efforts stall. That follow-up is what we do.

How far back can you go?

Correction statements can be filed for past periods, subject to time limits. During the assessment we check which years can still be corrected and focus there first.

Does the new Income-tax Act change any of this?

Section numbers and some forms change under the new Act, but the principle doesn't: credit must match what the deductor reports. We keep your reconciliations aligned with whichever rules apply to each year.

What do you need from us?

Your receivables and payables ledgers, TDS returns and access to 26AS or AIS data. We agree how you share it at the start; nothing to install.

General information only, not tax advice. We confirm the position for your specific facts during the engagement.
